Fourteen Pakistani maritime crew members currently stranded at the Port of Aden in Yemen have appealed to the Pakistani government to initiate urgent diplomatic intervention to secure their safe return home.
Detained Vessel and Crew Welfare Concerns
The crew members find themselves in an increasingly precarious situation due to the prolonged detention of their vessel at the Yemeni port. Prolonged stays under detention at foreign ports frequently raise severe challenges regarding the provision of supplies, access to essential services, and the overall physical and mental wellbeing of sailors aboard.
With conditions remaining uncertain, the sailors have reached out to relevant Pakistani authorities, asking officials to step in and engage with relevant local and maritime entities to address the circumstances surrounding the ship’s detention.
Call for Government Intervention
The stranded sailors emphasize that active consular and diplomatic involvement is crucial to resolving the legal or administrative hurdles holding the vessel and to arranging necessary clearance for their departure back to Pakistan.
Maritime personnel stranded in foreign waters often depend heavily on state-level foreign affairs interventions, particularly when operational disputes or local port restrictions halt vessel movements for extended periods.
